Daetwyler Global Tec Holding AG, headquartered in Bleienbach/CH, acquired 80% of the shares of the Rotoflex Group on May 31, 2017. The Rotoflex management team holds a 20% stake in the company and will continue running the business in the same function moving forward. Rotoflex will continue to operate as an independent brand within the Daetwyler Group.

Founded in 1975, the Rotoflex Group is specialized in the development and production of gravure, flexo inks and coatings for printing on flexible packaging substrates. The printing ink manufacturer has its headquarters and production site in Grenchen, Switzerland. Rotoflex’s focus since 1975 has been on customer-specific applications in solvent-based flexo and gravure printing as well as selected applications in security printing. Rotoflex has a special focus on high opacity whites with reduced blocking issues. In addition, besides a wide range of ink systems based on PU/PVB – NC/PU – NC, special 1K or 2K Over Print Lacquers plus Heat Seal Lacquers can also be offered.

The merger will look to provide benefits to both companies, with Rotoflex gaining presence in new markets and Daetwyler expanding on its mission to become the industry’s comprehensive Experts in Ink Transfer Technologies. Future plans include new sales and production locations to further expand market presence, with no concrete deadlines set at this time. Initial efforts will focus on Rotoflex deepening its presence in the US by establishing its own subsidiary in close cooperation with Daetwyler USA. The US subsidiary will be based in Huntersville, NC in the same location as the Daetwyler USA organization, with storage and warehousing of Rotoflex products as part of the expansion. Rotoflex and Daetwyler have also shared intentions of adding local manufacturing capabilities for the North American Rotoflex subsidiary.
