Tip Selector
Lamella
The MDC Standard patented lamella tip doctor blade has been around since the 1970’s. This tip design enhances cylinder life as it delivers consistent tonal values as the blade wears, ideal for short run gravure applications. The availability of different tip thicknesses and configurations also make this the blade of choice for high end graphics for flexographic printing.
- Constant lamellar thickness allows even doctoring of the chrome cylinder
- Tonal values maintained during the wear process
- Burr-free, specially polished laminated contact zone allows streak-free printing
Products with this configuration:
Flexolife
- Specially designed for high speed applications with the best possible print results
- Low blade wear
- Fewer machine downtimes
- Less ink spitting
- Optimized colour output and less wear of anilox rollers
Products with this configuration:
Bevel
- Increased stiffness - less blade wear
- Available in various bevel configuration (see product)
- Narrow contact zone allows for clean, sharp doctoring

Multiblade
The Multiblade is manufactured using a specialized process designed to promote blade tip stability and reduce wear at the contact point. The elongated sharp tip configuration controls hazing, reduces tip deflection caused by high blade pressure and high press speeds. This design allows you to use lower blade pressure, eliminate blade breakage due to high cylinder ends and drag outs. This results in less waste, reduced downtime and longer blade life.
- 3°-Multiblade, greater stability, lower bending at high pressure
- Narrow blade contact zone reduces hazing

Multiflex
A very special doctor blade tip designed to help combat the “ink spitting” issues typically seen with UV inks. A long hybrid lamella/bevel configuration combined with an exclusive engineered steel makes this blade perfect fit for all narrow web UV ink printers. Even though it is designed for UV inks it works well with all inks, coatings and lacquers.
- Designed to reduce or eliminate UV spitting on specific narrow web presses where doctor blade adjustment is limited
Products with this configuration:
One-Step
A long time standard used in UV printing to reduce UV spitting. Its special thick base material and thin tip design allows for clean doctoring regardless of ink viscosity and can be used on medium to high anilox line screens. A good choice for use with more viscous inks on older single bladed systems and equipment.
- Reduces or eliminates ink spitting
- Improved stability through increased material thickness
- Suitable for high-viscosity inks
- Thinner blade allows for clean and constant doctoring
Products with this configuration:
Stableflex
- Reduces or eliminates blade-vibration streaks
- Guaranteed even and clean doctoring
- Compensates for vibration streaks on older machines
- Reduces pressure plate vibration streaks on high-speed machines
