As print speeds increase—often exceeding 2,500 feet per minute—printers face heightened concerns about waste, downtime, and precision. We recognize that these pressures don’t just affect output; they directly impact the bottom line.
So – We keep looking for practical solutions that keep your pressroom operating at peak performance… and peak profitability.
Beyond technology, workforce changes have also reshaped the industry. The decline of shop classes in high schools led to a shortage of skilled tradespeople, making it harder for printers to find experienced operators.
Today, as the tide begins to turn with an increase in trade school enrollments and a renewed appreciation for skilled labor, Daetwyler remains committed to bridging the knowledge gap.
We believe that education and technical support are just as crucial as the products we provide. That’s why we also take great pride in professionally training the press operators who use them.
In fact, education from Daetwyler has now grown into a global initiative. In 2023, we conducted over 50 on-site training sessions. In 2024, that number surged to more than 140, sometimes requiring translators to ensure the best possible instruction. And it’s never one-size-fits-all training; it’s tailor-made for each pressroom’s needs.
Engineering Solutions: How can we help printers run more efficiently?
With each leap forward in press capacity, speed, inks, and coatings, Daetywler doesn’t just observe what’s happening — we think about what new industry demands mean for printers. Sometimes, it’s faster, more thorough cleaning. Other times, it’s training. But almost always, it means developing press components uniquely suited to the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Our range of specialized blade coatings is a great example. They extend blade life, reduce friction, and enhance print consistency. By refining doctor blade technology over the decades, from introducing the lamella tip in 1972 to today’s custom hybrid-coated blades, we’ve continuously adapted to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
As anilox technology has advanced, with higher line counts and thinner cell walls, our blade designs have evolved, too. Today’s custom-engineered solutions help printers achieve cleaner wipes, minimize cell wall wear, and maintain optimal ink transfer—ensuring consistent, high-quality prints with reduced downtime.
