Tariff Surcharge

Tariff Surcharge Information

Due to evolving international trade regulations, certain raw materials used in Daetwyler manufacturing are subject to import tariffs. As a result, a variable tariff surcharge may apply to impacted products.

This surcharge is designed to help offset a portion of the additional costs associated with these tariffs. It is not a fixed fee and will be adjusted up or down as trade conditions change.

Current Tariff Surcharge Rates

Product Category Actual Tariff Applied Surcharge
Coated Doctor Blades 39% 12%
Raw Steel (Uncoated Doctor Blades) 50% 12%

Note: While the actual tariffs are as high as 39–50%, Daetwyler is currently absorbing the majority of that cost. The applied surcharge reflects only a portion of the burden.

Why a separate Surcharge

Rather than embed these volatile costs into long-term pricing, we’ve chosen to break out tariff charges transparently and pass along only a partial impact. This allows us to:

  • Maintain fair and adaptable pricing
  • Remove or reduce the surcharge if/when tariffs ease or are lifted
  • Clearly communicate how trade policy impacts costs

Frequently Asked Questions

Only products impacted by current import tariffs will include the surcharge.

We’ll review and update surcharge rates as tariff rules or cost structures change.

Yes. If and when tariffs are lifted, the surcharge will be adjusted or eliminated.

This variable approach ensures that when tariffs decrease or end, customers benefit immediately—without waiting for a new pricing cycle.
